Yeshua returned to Kfar Nachum, and a crowd packed into a house to hear him. Four people brought a paralyzed man. Unable to get through the crowd, they opened the roof and lowered the man on his mat to where Yeshua was sitting.
Seeing their faith, Yeshua told the man his sins were forgiven. Some Torah scholars thought to themselves that only God could forgive sins. Yeshua knew their thoughts and asked which was easier to say: that the man’s sins were forgiven, or that he should get up and walk.
So they would know that the Son of Man had authority to forgive sins, Yeshua told the man to get up, take his mat, and go home. He stood up at once and walked out in front of everyone. Later, Yeshua went out and called Levi the tax collector to follow him, and sat down to eat with tax collectors and sinners.
